The Momma Book Club presents… The Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs

Hello Friends,

As you all know, here at “The Write Teacher”, we are teachers who tutor, we are teachers who advocate for literacy, and for keeping the performing and visual arts in education.  While we encourage all of our readers to take a look at our Great Reads, and our Weekend Wishes Lists, we realize that many of the titles are selected with the thought of reluctant readers in mind.  That being said, we have now decided to come out with our Momma Book Club selections.

When your child is doing a book report on Wake, by Lisa McMann, you can be reading something that perhaps only an adult will be able to appreciate.

The Momma Book Club’s first title choice…

The Friday Night Knitting Club, by Kate Jacobs

I don’t even knit, but I absolutely adored this book.  And, it made me want to go find the nearest yarn distributor. I laughed, and I cried.  I was enthralled. This book is so beyond knitting.  It’s about women. It’s about friendship.  It’s about sisterhood, motherhood, and life.  It’s about the families we are born into, and the ones we create for ourselves.  Men are an afterthought in this book. (Sorry). Women are the strength, the core, and the heart of the story.

Go, take a visit to Walker and Daughter, the cozy little yarn shop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.  You will learn to love Georgia and Dakota Walker, and you will get lost in their vibrant world.

It’s perfect for the cold season ahead!

Live, Love, Learn,

The Write Teacher
