Write for Hope

Hello Friends,

A Note From Our Founder:

This was an interesting week.  Every year, I buy a packet of pink pens made by Paper Mate, in support of Breast Cancer Research.  I love the pens, and they write beautifully, but, I also love that they go towards such an important cause.

It’s a small gesture, but a gesture nonetheless.

A gesture that means so much more to me this year, since there is one special lady very near and dear to my heart who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  For her privacy, and the privacy of her family, she shall remain nameless.

But, I still wanted to write a bit about her…perhaps it’s a different sort of gesture.

This lady has always been an advocate for The Write Teacher from Day One.

She’s an advocate for education.  She’s an advocate for the arts.  She’s an advocate for her children, her family, and her friends. She’s a champion. She’s a fighter. She is kind.  She is genuine.  She is sincere. She defends what is right, she defends what is good. She is selfless. When she first found out about her diagnosis, she could have let friends know while they were all at a fundraising event. But she didn’t.  Because she didn’t want the day to be about her. She is one of those people whom everyone loves. She is one of those people whom everyone will pray for, support, and help in any way that they can.

They say that there are angels that walk among us, and I do believe that she is one of them.

So, today, we write for hope, and we write for our friend, we hope to be there for her, as she has always been there for us.  We write for all of our sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, and friends that have been battling this disease.

We write for strength.

We write for courage.

We write for a cure.

We write for hope.
